Entering a discussion group

To see the messages in the discussion group.
Click on one of the discussion groups.
Click on the individual message subjects to read them.

Posting new messages

Click New message to post a new message/question.
Click Reply while viewing a message to post a reply to that message.

Unfolding and folding message replies

Click on the minus icons to fold the message tree and hide message replies.
Click on the plus icons to expand the message tree and see message replies.
Note Only Internet Explorer browsers, version 4 and above have this feature.

Register as a user

We recommend that you register as a user of the forum; this will give advantages when using the forum.
  • The forum remembers what messages you have already read, no matter where in the world you log on.
  • You can mark messages read/unread.
  • You can edit/delete your messages.
  • Registered authors have an author icon next to their name.
  • You can subscribe to email notifications.

Marking messages read/unread

Messages you haven't read yet have their subject written in bold and have the coloured message icon next to them.
Messages you have already read have their subject written in normal font weight and have the grey message icon next to them.
You can mark messages read/unread, simply click the message or message icon to change the message from read to unread or visa versa.
By clicking the icon next to a group you can mark all messages in that group as read.
Note You have to register to use this function.

Email subscription/Email notification

You can subscribe to email notifications for a top message and all its replies, also called a message thread, by clicking the empty space to the immediate left of the message subject, under the Subscribtion icon.
When you subscribe to a thread you receive an email every time another user posts a message in that thread, this saves you the trouble of continually checking the forum for new messages in that thread.
Messages that you subscribe to have the Subscribtion icon next to them, instead of the empty space.
To unsubscribe from email notifications and thereby not receive emails any more, simply click the Subscribtion Icon, next to a message that is part of that thread.
Note You have to register to use this function.

Email subscription/Email notification for a discussion group

You can subscribe to a discussion group, by clicking the No Subscribtion icon next to the group name.
When you subscribe to a group you receive an email every time another user posts a message in that group, this saves you the trouble of continually checking the forum for new messages in that group.
Groups that you subscribe to have the Subscribtion icon next to them.
To unsubscribe from email notifications and thereby not receive emails any more, simply click the Subscribtion Icon, next to the group you want to unsubscribe from.

Editing and deleting messages after they have been posted

You can edit your own messages by clicking the edit icon next to them.
You can delete your own messages by clicking the delete icon next to them.
Note You have to register to use this function.
Note You can only edit/delete your messages within 24 hours of posting them,
and only if no one has replied to your message.

HTML formatting in message text

The following HTML-tags are allowed in the bodies of messages:
<b> </b> <i> </i> <code> </code>.

Views

When browsing a groups messages you can choose the view All to view all un-archived messages, choose Unread to view unread and un-archived messages (hide read messages) or choose Archive to view archived messages only.
Note You have to register to use the Unread function.
